Gerard Way on My Chemical Romance: "The band is done, but it can never die"

My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way has given his thoughts on the band's recent split.

As previously reported, the emo-rockers confirmed that they would be breaking up after twelve years together.

In a lengthy and sometimes poetic Twitter post, Way offered his views on the band and reasons why the US quartet called it a day.

The 'Black Parade' star suggested that he fell back into "old habits" - possibly alcohol and prescription drug dependency - in 2012, losing interest in music as a result.

Way praised the band, however, calling them "spectacular" - and stated that the group were an ideology, something that will live on regardless if the four members have split. He concluded:

"My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you. I always knew that, and I think you did too."
