‘‘Millennial’ is his third self released single following ‘Greasy Spoon’, which today has been added to BBC Radio 1's Playlist’



Since the introduction of Sam and the powerfully exciting breakthrough single Play God, there's been significant heat from radio, press and tastemakers on the young northern lad. 

Sam stormed onto the scene earlier this year as a BBC Radio 1 New Name, and “Play God” quickly went straight to No 1 on the iTunes singer / songwriter chart and spent several weeks at no 2 in the Spotify viral charts.

Hailing from Newcastle, Sam Fender has made a name for himself on the live circuit, securing solo support slots with some of the most well respected songwriters on the planet (Catfish and the Bottlemen, Hozier Daughter, Michael Kiwanuka, Bear’s Den).

In a saturated male singer songwriter genre, Sam's grit and fresh lyrical take on modern society stand him out from the pack. Conjuring a vocal as unique as Springsteen, the indie spirit of The Maccabees, the live energy of Foals and the lyrical prowess of Arctic Monkeys.

He sold out his first hometown headline show at The Cluny (300 cap) within seconds and is eyeing up his first UK headline tour later this year. ‘Millennial’ is his third self released single following critically acclaimed debut ‘Play God’ and follow up ‘Greasy Spoon’.

Sam explains: 'Millennial' is a tongue-in-cheek response to the media's negative portrayal of young people in the 21st century. It plays on the notion that we (millennials) are 'young and dumb' freeloading idiots that expect a hand out from society. It plays on issues such as fake news and our addiction to screens and social media."

Recorded in a warehouse and produced by Bramwell Bronte and mixed by Alan Moulder (QOTSA, Foals, Arctic Monkeys), Millennial displays Sam’s raw nature reflective of his live presence.
