The Fight Will Continue in Supacell Season 2“Season 1 is my Batman Begins,” says creator Rapman. “Season 2 is when you really see what they become"OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASENEWS PROVIDED BY Netflix, Inc. Published: August 13, 2024 -- You don’t need time-traveling abilities to see if there’ll be more Supacell –– because Netflix has officially announced that Season 2 is on the way. The epic story of five extraordinary South Londoners ended its first season with a heartbreaking stunner. “When I come back, they’re all gonna fucking pay,” Michael (Tosin Cole) vows to his superpowered allies Andre (Eric Kofi Abrefa), Rodney (Calvin Demba), Sabrina (Nadine Mills), and Tazer (Josh Tedeku). The “they” Michael’s referencing are a shadowy organization that’s been stalking, manipulating, and, in some cases, killing supacell holders. For the show’s creator, Rapman, what comes next in the story isn’t a mystery. “I’ve always had it [mapped out] to Season 3. I know how Season 2 ends,” he told Tudum before the series premiered, adding, “I’ve got stuff planned for this story. I’ve had this in my head for years, so I’m ready to go.” Throughout Season 1 — which reached the No. 1 spot in Netflix’s global TV series list and remained in the top 10 for six weeks — Michael isn’t just a proven good guy. He’s also the anchor who brings Sabrina, Tazer, Rodney, and Andre together, just as his future self instructed him to do. While Rapman calls Michael a “warm, likable character,” he acknowledges that the time-and-space-transcending hero’s gut-wrenching loss might change his personality. “You can have the nicest person in the world. You push that person too far, and that person has the extraordinary power? You could create something very dangerous,” he said. Each of the five heroes has their own personal problems –– while struggling to wield a special ability –– but Rapman says they’re only getting started. “Supacell Season 1 is my Batman Begins. It’s a prequel of what they’ll be like. Season 2 is when you really see what they become. That future you saw at the end of the pilot in London, that exact future doesn’t exist anymore. They’ve changed everything. It’s going to be interesting when we get into the writers’ room.”
