Indie-Rock Band The Wattles Unveil Their Captivating New EP 'Fooled'OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASENEWS PROVIDED BY Next Up Music PR Australian-born Brighton-based, female-fronted indie rock band The Wattles release their highly anticipated debut 4-track EP, Fooled. Having recently made their mark on the UK music scene, The Wattles continue to captivate audiences with their climatic sound and deeply meaningful lyrics, drawing comparisons to iconic bands like The Cranberries, The Middle Kids, and London Grammar. Fooled is a powerful showcase of The Wattles' ability to blend introspective lyrics with a dynamic indie rock sound. Produced by acclaimed producer Simon Berckelman at Golden Retriever Studios in Sydney, this EP is the result of the band winning a coveted recording opportunity. The EP’s title track stands out as an honest response to the pervasive nature of social media. The song is a reflection on the modern world's bombardment of subtle influences and the constant battle to maintain one's authenticity and self-awareness in the face of it all. The track features a rich blend of instruments, creating a sound that is both powerful and atmospheric which captures the essence of The Wattles' sound—intense yet melodic, with an emotional depth that resonates long after the music stops. Speaking on the track further frontwomen Lucy Murray states “I wrote the track a couple of years ago first on piano and then the then band added their parts. It really changed up the energy when James added his guitar parts. The track talks about people who are obsessed with social media in quite a dystopic way and the off-putting kind of subtle nature of consumerism on these platforms” The accompanying music video film by Jessica DiCosta (twice selected for SXSW Sydney Film Festival) and Harleigh English seeks to elevate the band's artistic vision, shot on 16mm film in South London, the conceptual movement video performed by Erica Stubbs who wears silver fabric representing a 'mirror', explores the trapped/smothering nature of social media, too much self-reflection and narcissism, showcasing the band's ability to connect with audiences through various mediums. The Wattles have quickly become a memorable name in the Australian live music scene, playing over fifty shows and several festivals, and supporting internationally recognised artists like Reggie Watts, Gordi, and Ash Grunwald. Their poignant single ‘The Wrong Idea’ garnered significant attention in both UK and Australian media. Since relocating to the UK, The Wattles have headlined nearly sold-out shows at renowned venues like 93 Feet East and The Bedford and have graced the stage at the O2 Academy Islington. Their arrival in the UK has been marked by the release of three tracks taken from their debut EP. With a sound that blends the best elements of indie rock with deeply introspective lyrics, The Wattles are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with in the UK and beyond. Their debut EP Fooled is a testament to their growth as artists and their commitment to creating music that resonates with truth and authenticity. Catch the band live for their EP launch at The Victoria, Dalston, London on the 15th of August and at The Folklore Rooms in Brighton on the 16th of August. Tour dates:
