Indie Alt-Rock Band Grey Star Ghost Releases Emotionally Charged New Album Angels LeavingOFFICIAL PRESS RELEASENEWS PROVIDED BY Next Up Music PR Grey Star Ghost, the emotive indie alt-rock project led by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Tucker releases their third full-length album, ‘Angels Leaving’. The album reflects a maturation of Grey Star Ghost’s sound, blending fierce, atmospheric rock with haunting melodies and introspective lyrics. The band, originally formed in Denton, Texas, and now based between Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Salt Lake City, Utah, has crafted a dynamic collection of songs that feel both deeply personal and universally relatable. The focus track from the 12-track offering ‘Angels Leaving’, titled "Empty Glass," exemplifies the band’s unique ability to marry raw emotion with powerful, driving instrumentation. Known for their ability to evoke vulnerability, beauty, and heartbreak all in one breath, Grey Star Ghost continues to build upon the ethereal soundscapes they’ve established in previous releases. Angels Leaving marks a significant evolution for Tucker, who describes the album as a "more mature" and "refined" work compared to the band's earlier records. The album was initially conceived just before the pandemic and was delayed due to the isolation it caused. Tucker continued writing and performing the songs live as far back as 2019, but it wasn’t until January 2024 that the band entered the studio to finally capture the long-awaited tracks. Tucker and the band recorded most of the songs live in the studio, creating an authentic, organic feel throughout the album. Additional layers, including strings, auxiliary percussion, and backing vocals, were later added to enhance the sonic texture. The band, now consisting of Sean Umstead (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Ken Easton (lead guitar, backing vocals), and Angel Cruz (bass), worked closely with Tucker to bring the album to life. Together, they crafted an album that channels the raw energy of their live performances while incorporating more complex arrangements and intricate production. Speaking of the album Tucker states “This album feels like my best foot forward. It’s a more mature record, less raw and more refined. I think of this album as ‘me on a plate.’ It really is everything I want to sound like and the way I want to come across to listeners." Angels Leaving is poised to be Grey Star Ghost’s most complete and captivating work to date, a culmination of years of growth, live performances, and the evolving artistry of Jacob Tucker.
