Niall Horan and Shawn Mendes were given the opportunity by BBC Music's The Biggest Weekend to chat about their friendship in a rare on camera Q&A.

Mendes revealed: "The first time we met, which we're unsure about, I think it was at the American Music Awards. We were DMing super-flirtsy, back and forth."

Horan describes his first impression of Mendes: "Tall. The essence of innocence, extremely Canadian, just a very, very sweet guy." 

Horan talked about their collaboration rumours, saying: "People are always, like, trying to get us to do a song together. Anywhere I go: 'We hear you and Shawn Mendes are doing something?' We're actually not!"

Mendes added: "We might one day."
