Nick Jonas enlightens us about having to 'lean up' for 'Kingdom' role

Heartthrob Nick Jonas has opened up about wanting to change the way his body looks and confessed that he recently started a new diet in order to get lean.

Speaking to E! News, he confessed that his role in 'Kingdom' demands a physique overhaul so he has to go along with it: "Last year, I tried to put on 15 pounds of muscle from where I was. But the storyline for the character this year is he goes down a weight class."

"I actually had to lean up--keep muscle, but keep it lean and more explosive, more athletic muscle than size. I'm not eating as much as I was. I was probably eating 5,600 calories a day. Now, it's probably closer to 2,000 calories a day."

Jonas plays martial arts fighter Nate Kulina on the show and he recently told ET Online that he is up for whatever the writers throw at him because he's so committed to his character: "He's still trying to figure it out, and it'll be a journey for sure. I'm willing to go wherever I need to go with the story and we'll figure it out when we get there, I guess."
