Normani's "Love Lies" has sold over 1.1 million copies

"Love Lies" by Normani and Khalid has sold more than 1.1 million copies globally.

The duet debuted at No. 43 in the Billboard Charts after its digital release on Valentine's Day (February 14).

In its first week of release it received 22,000 downloads and 11.7 million streams.

This means that Normani has beaten Destiny's Child, as Beyonce's debut solo entry "03 Bonnie & Clyde" debuted at No. 56, whilst Kelly Rowland's "Dilemma" debuted at No. 53.

The song is taken from the soundtrack for the upcoming LGBTQIA + teen drama Love, Simon. The movie was premiered on February 27 at the Mardi Gras Film Festival

Kordei spoke about how the track was created on Beats 1 last month. She said: "It kind of happened really organically and it’s just two genuine friends making music for the sake of the art,” she said of her relationship with the “Young, Dumb & Broke” singer.

“I remember him telling me, he was like, ‘Yo, I want this to be my favorite song. Let’s not even go into it trying to create a hit.' If it’s gonna be, it’s gonna be, but it’s genuinely my favorite song at the moment right now.”
