Notes to Editors
Classical Crossover singer Lucy Kay wowed the judges in her first audition to coming runner up in Britain’s Got Talent 2014 final with her debut album ‘Fantasia’ going straight to Number 1 in the classical charts and Number 18 in the over top 20 Charts as well as record of the week on Classic FM.
The Daily Telegraph described the 26-year old as “BGT’s answer to One Direction: the runner-up who triumphed where it truly counts, in the real world”. Immediately after the show, Lucy signed a multi-album deal with Sony Classical. Sony’s label head, Liam Toner noted “Lucy has a unique ability to reach beyond the normal boundaries of opera...She truly is ‘The People’s Soprano’”.
Lucy’s voice is spreading here already; being booked to perform all over the world including being invited to perform at Windsor Castle by the Royal Family, singing ‘Flower of Scotland’ with Her Majesty’s Royal Marines for the 350th anniversary of the Royal Navy and performing the National Anthem at Wemebely Stadium for the Community shield match to over 78,000 people to name but a few. All of this topped off by supporting Opera Royalty, Andrea Bocelli on his UK arena tour.
Lucy is truly living her dream. From a young age, she found peace in Classical Music studying music at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a determination to challenge the stereotype, introducing Classical Music to a wider audience with her fresh and approachable style. After a difficult time as the target of school bullies, Lucy was able to find solace in singing and is now a Celebrity Ambassador for The Diana Award charity, Anti-Bullying Pro.
As well as her Classical training, Lucy is now branching out to other styles of music and creating a name for herself in London performing as celebrity guest at The London Cabaret Club.
