Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You returns to No.1 as his arena tour sweeps the UK

Ed Sheeran took a week off from dominating the Official Singles Chart last week, but he has climbed back up to the top spot today after just seven days away.

Shape Of You knocks Harry Styles’ Sign Of The Times from the peak to log a 14th week at the top. When it comes to non-consecutive chart toppers, only Frankie Laine’s I Believe has achieved more weeks at Number 1; that track spent 18 weeks at Number 1 over three stints back in 1953.

Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson’s Symphony hops one spot to Number 2, a new peak for the single. Ed’s back again with Galway Girl at 3, ahead of Harry Styles who tumbles to Number 4 with Sign Of The Times. Coincidentally, the last one-week reign at Number 1 was Harry’s fellow One Direction bandmate Zayn with debut single Pillowtalk in February 2016.

New entries and high climbers

Kendrick Lamar dominates today’s Official Singles Chart with five songs from his album Damn hitting the Top 40. The LP’s lead single Humble climbs 25 places to Number 6, becoming this week’s highest climber in the process. The track is also Kendrick’s third Top 10 single and his highest charting release as a lead artist. Other tunes of his making an impact include DNA (18), Loyalty ft. Rihanna (27), Element (33) and Love (39).

Jason Derulo is another huge climber with his Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign hook-up Swalla, which rises nine spots to Number 15, and finally, two tracks hit the Top 40 for the first time this week. Lady Gaga enters at Number 23 with surprise single release The Cure, while J Hus’ Did You See rises seven places to Number 34.
