Ed Sheeran denies Calvin Harris Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart

Calvin Harris put up a good fight, but it wasn’t quite enough to dethrone Ed Sheeran from the top of the Official Albums Chart.

Ed Sheeran's ÷ logs a 12th non-consecutive week at Number 1, while Calvin settles for second place with his new collection Calvin HarrisFunk Wav Bounces - Vol. 1

The DJ/producer’s fifth record is his second to reach Number 2, following 2014’s Motion. Two of his albums - 2009's Ready For The Weekend and 2012's 18 Months – reached Number 1.

Elsewhere in the Top 5, Rag'n'Bone Man's Human rises two to Number 3 to extend its Top 5 stay to an incredible 21 weeks, Royal Blood gain a place at Number 4 with How Did We Get So Dark?, and US rock group Stone Sour secure their highest UK chart placing yet with Hydrograd at 5.

New entries and high climbers

The Bee GeesTimeless greatest hits rises to a new peak of Number 6 as Barry Gibb's much publicised legend slot at Glastonbury still has people talking, while Ed Sheeran's x rises two to Number 10 to enjoy a 95th week in the Top 10. 

Drake's More Life lifts six to Number 14 this week, while Adele's 25 also rises six to number 20 despite cancelling the final shows of her 25 world tour at Wembley Stadium last week. Justin Bieber's show at British Summer Time Hyde Park did go ahead, and his album Purpose rises 15 spots to Number 37 as a result.

Finally, T-Boz and Chilli aka TLC enter at Number 40 with their new, self-titled album featuring 11 new songs and five reworked classic hits.
