Despacito extends reign at the top of the Official Singles Chart

Despacito continues to be the soundtrack of the summer as the track extends its reign at Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart.

The track, by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee & Justin Bieber notches up an eighth stint at the summit and is the week’s biggest selling and most streamed single, with just over 30,000 downloads sold and 7.2 million plays across streaming services.

Despacito holds off strong competition from DJ Khaled’s Wild Thoughts ft. Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, settling for second place for a second week.

Meanwhile, French Montana’s Unforgettable ft. Swae Lee climbs a place to a new peak at 3, as does Jonas Blue’s Mama ft. William Singe at 4, while Liam Payne’s Strip That Down ft. Quavo completes the Top 5.

New entries and high climbers

Calvin Harris’ latest track Feels ft. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean zooms 15 places to Number 6, earning him a 23rd Top 10 single, Rita Ora’s Your Song lifts three places to 7, and after a ten-week climb, Pretty Girl by Maggie Lindemann cracks the Top 10 for the first time, up three places to 9.

Three songs make big gains inside the Top 20: Sigala & Ella Eyre’s Came Here For Love jumps seven spots to Number 12, Signs by Drake rises eight places to 14, and Miley Cyrus’ Malibu rebounds five places to 19.

This week’s highest new entry goes to Rudimental, whose new single Sun Comes Up ft. James Arthur lands at 24.

Further down, Finnish singer ALMA makes her UK Top 40 debut with Chasing Highs, up 24 rungs to Number 30, Unpredictable ft. Louisa Johnson becomes Olly Murs’ 18th Top 40 single, climbing 17 places to 32.

Finally, two more songs break the Top 40 for the first time: rapper Post Malone’s Congratulations ft. Quavo jumps 12 spots to 39, and Hailee Steinfeld’s Most Girls lifts five places to Number 40.
