Thursday 7th May: Record Store Day UK, Official Charts and National Album Day have come together to launch “The Record Club” – a bimonthly Facebook Live series set to unite music fans, celebrate album releases during lockdown and support the UK’s record shops.

The virtual club will be taking place on Facebook every other Wednesday at 6.30pm, hosted by Jess Iszatt (BBC Music Introducing/ BBC Radio London) and live streamed simultaneously across the Record Store Day UK, Official Charts and National Album Day Facebook feeds with links here: @RSDayUK / @OfficialCharts / @AlbumDayUK.

The series will see the 3.2 million-strong combined digital audiences of Record Store Day UK, Official Charts and National Album Day encouraged to order each Record Club album from a record shop ahead of the broadcast, listen to the album in full, and come to the interview with questions of their own in a bid to support the record store community throughout the coronavirus lockdown. Click here to find out more about how it works.

The Record Club launched yesterday evening (6th May) with Rina Sawayama – the Japanese British recording artist whose recently released debut album ‘Sawayama’ via Dirty Hit received much critical claim. The first episode with a recording of the broadcast is available to watch in full here. Fans yet to listen to the album can still get a copy of the CD or ask their local record shop to order in a copy of the LP.

And we are excited to reveal that taking part in the next episode on Wednesday 20th May at 6.30pm is Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods. He’ll be delving deep into the new album “All That Glue” - a retrospective collection of songs spanning the last seven years of their career- released via Rough Trade Records on 15th May. Fans are encouraged to pre-order a copy of “All That Glue” in advance of The Record Club and tune into the broadcast with their own questions. A limited edition version of the record will be available on double white vinyl including 16 page booklet of the band’s rise since their inception in 2011 from independent record stores.

The Record Club will also be giving away a loaded £100 Record Token to one lucky viewer per episode. During the broadcast, viewers simply need to ask a question in the comment box to be in with a chance.

Want to get involved with The Record Club? Order a copy of ‘All That Glue” from your local record shop, give it a spin, then tune into the next episode with Jason Williamson on Wednesday 20th May, 6.30pm.

Order. Listen. Watch.
