[8th October 2021] Toronto’s upcoming Dancehall/Afro-fusion artist Lexxicon prepares to unveil ‘Back to You’, the second single in the lead-up to his third studio album, Tropicon Islands. Doused in kinetic beats and melodic raps, courtesy of fellow Torontonian Desiire, the release of ‘Back to You’ comes just a few weeks after the release of ‘Power Over Me’, the first instalment of the Tropicon Islands story.

Ready with chapter two, Lexxicon continues on his enchanting tale of the newly-in-love couple that has just landed on Tropicon Island, an imaginary Caribbean setting and the centre-stage of Lexxicon’s eponymously named, 11-track project and accompanying self-authored fiction novel, cleverly set to the soundtrack of the album.

"On their way back to their hotel they reminisce about some of the ups and downs that led them here. Their relationship hasn’t always been good times and vibes, they have also had many disagreements, fights and horrible things to say about each other that they didn’t mean. However, they always learn from their mistakes and always find their way back to each other, growing stronger each time.

This song is for those who have that connection they just can’t give up, for those who are still working out the kinks in a new relationship. A reminder the relationship doesn’t have to be toxic if you’re growing and not making the same mistakes. "

A track based on love, lust and unquenchable desire, the lyrics to ‘Back To You’ possess all the thrilling highs and bitter lows that come with the infatuation of new love. A narrative within a narrative, ‘Back To You’ ft. Desiire is yet another shining example of Lexxicon’s immense creativity and songwriting skill, as well as another exciting glimpse into the story behind Tropicon Islands.

Born in Jamaica and raised in the UK and US before settling in Toronto, Canada, Lexxicon has been blessed with a rich, varied culture and strong ties to his heritage that have come to greatly influence his sound, aesthetic and musical inspirations. Citing names such as Vybz Kartel, Stefflon Don and Wizkid as some of his favourite artists, it’s no surprise that Lexxicon’s music has found its core fanbase amongst the kids of the diaspora who share his love for the authentic flavours of their home countries as well as the modern sound and styles of the new cities that have adopted them. From London to Leamington and from Africa to the Caribbean and back, Lexxicon’s music does more than sound good, it transcends borders, unites cultures and brings people together.

In ‘Back to You’ Afro-pop and Dancehall meet R&B, resulting in a genre-bending, hybrid record which sees Lexxicon’s Jamaican heritage majestically intertwine with Desiire’s native Congolese roots, as the two artists harmonize over a dynamic instrumental laced with danceable rhythms and an irresistibly sultry atmosphere.
