One Direction's Niall Horan bags biggest retweet during Super Bowl

A message posted by One Direction star Niall Horan was the most shared tweet during this year's Super Bowl event.

The Irishman was watching the American Football event last night (February 2) as the Seattle Seahawks smashed the Denver Broncos 43-8.

Horan said on Twitter during the game: "Watching the Super Bowl! And all I can think of is! "I can't believe we are playing that stadium in the summer" mind blowing sh*t."

Data collected by Crimson Hexagon shows that the message was retweeted 47,000 times during the game - the world's most shared status over that period of time.

24.9 million tweets were sent during the game - an increase of last year's 24.1 million.

The coveted half-time show meanwhile was performed by Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
