Irish One Direction shows pose problems for polling stations

One Direction's upcoming shows in Ireland could cause problems with polling stations due to run in the area at the same time.

The group are set to play three shows at the massive Croke Park in Dublin from May 23 - but on that day the country will vote for local and European elections.

Dublin city returning officer for the European elections James Barry has said that police are planning to cordon off an area near the O'Connell School on North Richmond Street as a result of the One Direction shows.

This means that access to a polling station due to be held in the school could be compromised and discussions are underway to see if it needs to be moved.

However, this would affect 2,200 people and local TD Minister of State Joe Costello has said that the public deserve the right to vote in their own area.

One Direction's shows meanwhile form part of the worldwide Where We Are stadium tour.
