One Direction score double win at Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards

One Direction took home two awards from the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards yesterday (March 29).

The British boy band were the biggest winning musical act of the night as they were named Favourite Music Group and their tune ‘Story of My Life’ won Favourite Song.

Other musical winners on the night were Justin Timberlake who was voted Favourite Male Singer and Selena Gomez who won Favourite Female Singer.

Gomez took to Twitter to let her fans know she appreciated the award. She wrote: “Yay!! Thank you KCAs, all the kiddies and my die hard franz [sic] for voting. Happy girl. Now I want sushi.…”

The Los Angeles ceremony was held at USC Galen Center and presented by actor Mark Wahlberg. A host of musical stars were in attendance including Glee’s Lea Michele, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Pharrell Williams.

Whilst Pharrell Williams sported his trademark Vivienne Westwood Buffalo hat in green before the show began he later changed into a Spongebob Sqaurepants onesie before being slimed – a characteristic element of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
