One Direction on split gossip: "We're here for as long as the fans want us"

One Direction have dismissed rumours that suggest they will split in the future.

The group are constantly dogged with talk of disbanding, with Harry Styles the favourite to try his luck at going solo.

Speaking to The Sun, the quintet said that as long as there is a demand for their music and concerts, there will always be a One Direction.

Styles said: "We always hear rumours about us splitting - but we're not."

Bandmate Niall Horan said: "We're here for as long as the fans want us."

One Direction meanwhile were confirmed this morning (April 28) for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend extravaganza in Glasgow.

They will take to the stage in the Scottish city on May 24 - the same day as they are due to perform on tour at Dublin's Croke Park.

The band are currently in South America on the first leg of their Where We Are world stadium tour before they head to Europe and North America.
