Earlier this week, Australian heartthrobs 5 Seconds Of Summer announced that they have been invited to perform at this year's Billboard Music Awards and One Direction's Niall Horan has now congratulated them publicly. 

Writing on his official Twitter page today (May 3), the Irish 'Story Of My Life' star explained that he's proud of the guys because they deserve recognition of that stature and they've come a long way from playing in member Ashton Irwin's garage at home:

"Congrats @5sos! So proud lads! it's the billboard awards! Not just any award show! Wow! from ash's garage to billboard! See ya soon."

5SOS's Irwin posted an update on his social networking site earlier this morning and admitted that he can't believe that they'll be taking the stage at the Las Vegas ceremony, which will be held on May 18, as it's a dream come true: "Actually can not believe we've been given the chance to play the billboard awards in Vegas, can't believe it, thank you everyone."

Back in April, Calum Hood told Fuse.TV that if the chance to collaborate with One Direction ever presented itself he would jump at it: "Who knows, they're writing a lot more which is amazing. If anything, it'll probably be a spontaneous decision between us, but I'd love to."
