One Direction star Liam Payne has admitted that posting on Twitter when drunk isn't the best idea.

The singer has occasionally taken to the social networking website after night outs to post his thoughts and feelings.

They have included "deep", ambiguous messages and they have sometimes left fans worried.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1's Scott Mills, Payne said that he often wakes up in the morning feeling regretful at the tweets.

He said: "I have a few drunken rants sometimes on Twitter...Yeah they are quite deep, sometimes I go in hard, it's not good. Then I wake the next morning and it's like - ahhh, old news."

Bandmate Louis Tomlinson meanwhile added: "I've been told to take many [tweets] down, yeah yeah."
