One Direction thank fans after drug video scandal: 'Your support means so much to us'

Boyband One Direction performed at Sunderland's Stadium of Light last night (May 28) and singer Louis Tomlinson thanked fans for being so supportive following the release of a video that showed both him and member Zayn Malik smoking marijuana on tour.

Tomlinson addressed the crowd at the venue and thanked the audience for their constant love and explained: "I want to say a massive thank you to fans and you guys for putting us here tonight,"

'Story Of My Life' superstar Malik then added, "I want to say a massive, massive thank you to each and every single one of you for supporting us from all our early shows to this very day. I want you to know how much that means."

The group's next date on their Where We Are tour will be tomorrow, on May 30, at Manchester's Etihad Stadium. Tomlinson, meanwhile, also recently opened up about the control they have over their collective career in One Direction and confessed that the longer they're in the band the more they can pilot what they do:

"I think the biggest misconception is that nobody expects us to have any control over anything we do – but actually, it’s the exact opposite."
