One Direction UK tickets see 79% surge in resales following drugs video scandal

A spokesperson for online ticket retailer Viagogo has confirmed that ticket resales for One Direction's upcoming UK concerts have seen a huge increase following the release of a video that appears to show members Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson smoking weed.

The representative for the site explained that there has been a 79% surge in tickets for One Direction shows being listed for resale after the drugs scandal hit the web:

"The boys are considered role models, but the question is whether this latest controversy will affect the boyband’s squeaky clean image, as fans – and their parents alike – turn to reselling their tickets."

The boyband, meanwhile, performed at Sunderland's Stadium of Light yesterday and both Tomlinson and Malik took time to thank their fans for being so supportive throughout everything: "I want to say a massive thank you to fans and you guys for putting us here tonight."

Malik added: "I want to say a massive, massive thank you to each and every single one of you for supporting us from all our early shows to this very day. I want you to know how much that means."
