A writer who pens One Direction fanfiction has landed a global book deal.

Anna Todd has gained huge success over recent times with her self-penned fictional After series, which is based on One Direction.

It tells the tale of 18-year-old Tessa Young, whose "simple life" is "shattered...[by] a rude boy named Harry".

Publishers Simon & Schuster have now signed up Todd for a global book deal, with a first volume coming out in print and e-book by the end of the year.

Volume two and three are expected to land in January and March of 2015.

Simon & Schuster, however, will reportedly have to change the names of the boyband members for legal reasons.

One of the main pulls of fanfiction meanwhile is members of pop groups ultimately engaging in sex acts.
