Louis Tomlinson talks Doncaster Rovers ambition: 'The plan is to go straight back up'

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has spoken about his future aims for Doncaster Rovers.

The popstar and former chairman John Ryan confirmed in June that they had purchased the club, who the singer supports.

The team is currently sitting in League One after being relegated from the Championship last season, but Tomlinson told the club's official website that he wants Doncaster to get promoted straight away.

He said: “The plan is to go straight back up and I think we've got the players here to do that and there's definitely the belief and ambition, so hopefully all that, combined with a little bit of luck and we'll get there."

The singer was speaking as he caught up with the team in Portugal as they continued their pre-season training.

He added: "It’s the boyhood dream really, a lad from Donny turns up to Portugal in the nice weather, sits down and sees his local team out in the sunshine so happy days. It’s been nice to come down, its a great complex. It’s a shame about the result but the new lads look great - Bailey in particular so I’m excited for the season."
