Louis Tomlinson thanks fans for their support after Doncaster Rovers disappointment

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has thanked his fans after a bid to buy his beloved Doncaster Rovers fell through.

The singer had teamed up with former chairman John Ryan to buy the League One football club and they recently launched an ultimately unsuccessful crowdfunded trust to raise money for the team.

However, the duo stated on Thursday (July 17) that the deal had fallen foul of Football League red tape, with Ryan suggesting it was due to money worries.

Tomlinson today (July 18) took to Twitter to show his gratitude towards those who have wished him well after the disappointing news broke.

He said: "Thank you for all the tweets!! Loads of loveeeeeee!! X."

The One Direction man had previously suggested that he was still keen on helping Doncaster Rovers, saying:

"For the record, I insisted contractually I would never earn a penny from DRFC. I simply wanted to help club & community. Still hoping I can."
