One Direction become the first act of 2014 to break the $200 million ticket sales barrier

UK based boyband One Direction have become the first touring act this year to break the $200 million ticket sales barrier based on revenue from the European and North American legs of their current Where We Are world tour.

The lads kicked off the huge jaunt back in April when they began the run in South America, and it has since visited Ireland, Scotland, England, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the USA.

Heartthrob Zayn Malik recently spoke to Britain's Top Of The Pops magazine about his group's phenomenal success and confessed that sometimes he just can't believe how lucky they truly are: "We’re just as surprised about it as anyone else is, to be honest. We didn’t really expect any of it and it’s just crazy to see how it’s happened."

Simon Cowell, meanwhile, opened up about the boys' forthcoming new studio album and teased that they have taken risks with the material they're recording:

"The album's fantastic. There's probably five or six tracks I've already heard that could be singles. There's some very different kinds of songs than what we've done before, they've taken a few more risks. Most importantly, the boys love writing, they love recording."

"I went on Twitter recently to say I don't think they're going to split up, they're having too good a time! I think they could be doing this five, ten, twenty years if they wanted to."
