Zayn Malik: 'It would be hard to go solo, I love the friendship and support we have as a band'

One Direction are about to release their official autobiography, 'Who We Are', and a new promotional audio excerpt read by member Zayn Malik has surfaced, in which he opens up about the possibility of pursuing a solo career in the future.

In the audio book clip, the 'Story Of My Life' sensation admitted that he feels as though being a solo artist would be hard because he would really miss the support he gets from his bandmates Liam, Harry, Niall and Louis:

"If I did this by myself it would be a lot more difficult. Having four other people that do exactly the same thing as you, go through exactly the same experiences, have the same life experiences to a certain extent…”

The heartthrob added that he doesn't think he would enjoy superstardom if he was in it alone: "It is cool to have that and it would be more difficult to be a solo artist I think. Sometimes I do look at solo artists and I feel a bit sorry for them because they don’t have that, whereas we have a proper camaraderie.”

'Who We Are' is due to be released on September 25 and other excerpts featuring Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles have previously been shared. You can listen to Zayn's part below.
