PETA issue full-page advert criticising One Direction for using chimp in video

PETA are to ramp up their pressure on One Direction by publishing a full-page advert slamming them for using a chimpanzee in a recent video.

The boyband recently issued their 'Steal My Girl' promo clip and it sees a chimp used.

Pictures emerged prior to the video's release of the animal with a chain leash and this prompted further criticism from animal rights groups such as PETA.

They now taken the step of buying a full-page advert in the Hollywood Reporter magazine that will run in their November 5 issue.

The advert features a picture of a chimp who has worked in movies along with the tag line 'No animals were harmed’ - really One Direction?'.

It continues: "After [wild animals] become unmanageable or are no longer profitable to their owners, they are typically discarded, like Chubbs."

It is also hoped that the advert will raise awareness of animal welfare within the film industry to movie executives.
