Harry Styles: 'Knock knock. Who's there? A VEVO record. A VEVO record who? Only joking. Whoops'

Earlier this week, heartthrob Harry Styles posted a message to his official Twitter page that seemingly confirmed One Direction's music video for 'Steal My Girl' had broken VEVO's 24-hour record, but it has now been revealed that the boyband's new visual offering didn't actually achieve that feat.

Superstar Styles returned to his social networking page this afternoon (October 30) and told his 22.4 million followers that his original tweet, in which he described Directioners as 'legends', was inaccurate and he has now been informed that 1D unfortunately didn't beat the record with their new video. He wrote:

"Knock knock.. Who's there? 'A vevo record' a vevo record who? Only joking. Whoops. Just found out we didn't beat the Vevo record. But thank you guys for all your effort, the views were amazing! You're legends."

VEVO then posted official confirmation of his disappointing announcement: "Thanks for bearing with us, 1D fans. We love how passionate this fandom is! As Harry said, #StealMyGirlOnVevo did not break the 24hr record."
