One Direction announce U.S. holiday special

UK based boyband One Direction have announced that they will be broadcasting a holiday special in America just before Christmas.

On December 23, the 'Steal My Girl' heartthrobs will unveil 'One Direction: The TV Special' on American commercial broadcast television and radio network NBC (8-9pm ET) and no specific details about what the programme will include have been shared as of yet.

This will be the group's first ever U.S. network special.

The lads' forthcoming new album, 'FOUR', is due to be officially released later this month on November 17 and music mogul Simon Cowell recently spoke out in praise of the band's fanbase, tweeting: "Looking at excitement leading up to the @onedirection album next week. Once again the fans have showed their loyalty and support. Amazing!"

Earlier this week, One Direction confessed that they won't be splitting any time soon despite constant rumours that suggest otherwise: "Obviously doing the On The Road Again tour will be incredible fun for us and that will be a big part of next year. And we intend to write another record."
