One Direction tribute band: 'People have started crying when we’ve met them'

A leading One Direction tribute band have opened up on the effect they have had on people.

Glasgow's One and Only Direction have enjoyed a big year as they imitated the British-Irish boyband in style.

Some members of the quintet had to be removed from a One Direction gig in Edinburgh after being mobbed and they regularly get spotted on the street.

Speaking to the Daily Record, singer Liam Fergusson - who plays the role of Niall Horan - said that despite being lookalikes, they still cause fans to get emotional.

He said: "People have started crying when we’ve met them, it’s mental that we have that effect on people.

“It’s been an amazing year."

Harry Styles copy Richard Dickson meanwhile added: "It was about February when people actually started saying it to me, because I never thought about it.

“I didn’t really take an interest in looking like anyone apart from myself. I was walking down the street and people would say it to me and I was like, ‘Well maybe I should do something about it'."
