One Direction were forced to finish a recent live show as a foursome after Zayn Malik abandoned the group’s performance.

The ‘Steal My Girl’ band were playing the seventh show of their current ‘On The Road Again’ world tour at the Paterson’s Stadium in Perth, Australia on Friday night (February 20) when Malik walked off.

Following his departure from the stage, leaving his band mates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan to continue the stadium show as a quartet, the reason for Zayn’s absence was later explained by a spokesperson for One Direction.

A representative for the band told The Sun newspaper: “Zayn was taken ill during the show but it’s nothing serious. He wasn’t feeling that great beforehand but he tried to get through the performance as well as he could. Everyone is hoping he’ll be well enough for their next gig.”

The next date of One Direction’s tour takes place on February 24 in Osaka, Japan.
