The mother of Zayn Malik has reassured fans about the singer's mental condition.

As previously reported, the group will perform as a quartet for at least their next three gigs after the singer returned home to the UK.

He has been "signed off" with stress, but it is unclear exactly when Malik will return to the fold.

Speaking to the Mirror, Malik's mum Trisha confirmed that she has been in touch with Zayn.

She said: "I have spoken to him and he's fine. We have been in contact.

"I cant say where he is going to go."

One Direction are scheduled to take their On The Road Again tour to Manila on March 21 and 22 before playing one show in Jakarta on March 25.
