One Direction raise £600k for charity through ticket sales

One Direction have generated over half a million pounds for a cancer charity through ticket sales alone.

The group donated 50p from every ticket sold on their Where Are We world tour last year to Stand Up To Cancer.

Figures released by company ODOT (One Direction On Tour) show that a total of £600,000 ($937,000) was made for the charity.

The tour, which ran from April to October last year, raked in tens of millions of pounds.

However, it is reported that the then five singers got £6.1 million ($9.5 million) between them for just signing up for the tour.

Forbes meanwhile recently estimated that between June 2014 and June 2015, One Direction generated $130 million (£82.7 million).
