One Direction's latest single is the best-selling debut of the year so far in the US.

The boyband recently unveiled their surprise track 'Drag Me Down'.

Billboard have confirmed that the tune debuted at No.3 on their singles chart.

It shifted 349,000 downloads and enjoyed 8.5 million streams during its first week.

This makes the track the biggest debut of the year in the US to date.

'Drag Me Down', however, managed to reach No.1 in countries such as the UK and Australia.

One Direction's last single 'Night Changes' peaked at No.31 in America 2014.
