One Direction say upcoming break will be a 'shock to the system'

One Direction star Niall Horan admits the band's forthcoming break will come as a shock to the singers.

The quartet are due to take a prolonged amount of time off in 2016 to focus on individual projects.

Speaking to ITV News, the Irishman said that while it will be "nice" to enjoy some downtime, it will feel initially odd after spending the last four years working.

Horan said: "It's going to be a bit of a shock to the system, not doing the schedule that we have been doing.

"It will be nice. I don't know how it's going to hit us, because never been put in that position before.

"But it will be good - it's Christmas time, and we'll be able to chill out and that'll be the start of it."

The singer recently admitted that he hasn't been home to Mullingar, Ireland in nearly a year.

One Direction will release their fifth album 'Made in the A.M.' on November 13.

However, there are no plans to tour the record.
