One Direction beating Bieber in race for UK No.1 album

One Direction look set to shrug off competition from Justin Bieber and land this week's UK No.1 album.

The group released their fifth record 'Made in the A.M.' on Friday (November 13) - the same day Bieber unleashed 'Purpose'.

The Official Charts Company have revealed today (November 16) that One Direction's effort is 14,000 combined units ahead of Bieber's.

This means that the band should bag their fourth No.1 album in the UK on Friday (November 20).

All of their albums bar 2011's 'Up All Night' have topped the chart.

At No.3 on the midweek update is 'Alone In The Universe' by Jeff Lynne's ELO.

Elvis Presley's 'If I Can Dream' drops from No.1 to No.4, with Little Mix's 'Get Weird' at No.5.

Kylie Minogue's festive record 'Kylie Christmas' is new at No.6, with X Factor 2014 winner Ben Haenow at No.7 with his self-titled debut album.
