One Direction album named 'most unwanted item' this Christmas

One Direction's 'Take Me Home' has been the most traded-in item on Music Magpie this Christmas.

The website allows people to send in unwanted CDs and DVDs in return for cash.

The company have revealed that One Direction's 2012 album 'Take Me Home' was their most received item between Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year.

They received 31,468 copies of the record.

Adele's '21' was the second most popular album with 25,897 trade-ins.

Music Magpie marketing director Liam Howley commented: "Our CD and DVD trade-ins are always a good barometer of what or who is waning in popularity and this year's trade-in figures make for quite interesting reading, particularly for One Direction.

"Perhaps their tumultuous year has had more of an impact on their popularity than first thought? Have some of the early fans moved on? I guess time will tell when, or if, they make another album together."

One Direction are set to go on hiatus in 2016.
