One Direction in the UK's most charitable music act Top 10

Boyband One Direction are the tenth most charitable UK music act according to the 'Giving List', published by the Sunday Times

The list was compiled from statistics showing how much money had been donated and music icon Sir Elton John is at the top of the list, after handing out £26.8 million to charitable causes last year. 'Harry Potter' author J.K. Rowling is at No.2 with £10.3 million and footballer David Beckham is at No.3.

Elsewhere in the Top 10 is Ringo Starr from The Beatles, who is at No.6 with £6 million, and Coldplay, who are at No.5 with £1.7 million. The full list can be seen below.

1D, meanwhile, could be about to break a Billboard Music Awards record. The heartthrobs tied with Destiny's Child with two wins each in the Top Duo/Group category (1D won in '13 and '15 while Destiny's Child scored the trophies in '00 and '01), and One Direction are now finalists for the title this year. If they win the category, it will make them record-breakers.
