Harry Styles' part in upcoming war movie Dunkirk has finally been confirmed.

The singer's role in the Christopher Nolan film has been rumoured for months.

The One Direction man was also photographed recently on the set of the flick.

Warner Bros. Pictures has now officially confirmed that Styles will feature in the film.

In a press release issued today (May 23), the studio said the singer was part of an "ensemble cast" that also features leading lights Tom Hardy and Mark Rylance.

Filming will take place in France, Holland, the UK and Los Angeles.

The movie "opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.".

The film is slated to hit cinemas on July 21 2017.
