One Direction's Niall Horan says he wants to make folk music

One Direction's Niall Horan says he would love to make folk-tinged music.

The singer told the Daily Star that he is currently playing around in the studio with new material.

Songwriter Wayne Hector recently confirmed that he had been working with Horan on music.

Horan said he is keen to build on One Direction's sound and bring in new influences.

He said: "I don't know where it will go, there's nothing suspicious in the pipeline.

"I've just been writing. Writing is something I got involved with early on. I try to go in and write with different types of songwriters, mixing Wayne with someone who does folk music or something like that.

"I'm interested in blending the two genres together."

One Direction are currently on a prolonged break as they recharge their batteries and explore new avenues.
