The British Phonographic Industry released its end of week certifications yesterday and confirmed that One Direction, who are currently taking a break from the scene, have now achieved an impressive new sales milestone. 

The boyband's single 'History' has now been certified Platinum by the BPI in the UK, which means that it has sold over 600,000 copies since its release. The BPI tweeted: "‘History’ by @onedirection is now Platinum. Congrats! #bpiAwards."

As previously reported, member Niall Horan recently spoke to Global Radio and confessed that he and the other 1D lads can't believe they've been out of the spotlight for six months already:

“It doesn’t feel like it [but] we’ve been off six months already. I was talking to Louis about it the other day, it feels like it was only yesterday that we were touring. I have to say it’s been really good, just being able to chill out, not really have a schedule, and just being able to do your own thing.”
