Simon Cowell has raised eyebrows after failing to mention Liam Payne when talking about One Direction's loyalty.

The singer recently signed a deal with Capitol, becoming the first member of the group to officially pen a solo contract since One Direction went on a break at the end of last year.

Label boss Cowell recently held a conference call with J-14 and other media outlets and he praised One Direction's dedication to the cause.

However, he didn't mention Payne when he listed each member.

He said: "You know what, we're talking to all of [the 1D guys] at the moment.

"You know what the great thing about these boys are, well not all of them, just most of them, they're incredibly loyal. And you don't always expect that. Niall, Harry, Louis are amazing."
