Irish heartthrob Niall Horan, of One Direction fame, has surprised fans by unveiling his debut solo single "This Town". 

In an official press release, Niall Horan says: "I'm excited to announce I have signed a record deal with Capitol Records USA and released my first solo song. Thank you to all the One Direction fans for your love and support as always. I'm looking forward to the next part of this journey together." 

He gives a stripped back performance in a “1 Mic 1 Take” video that premiered today (September 29) on VEVO. The clip was filmed in the historic Capitol Studios in Hollywood, CA. The press release also states that Greg Kurstin produced the track, which Niall Horan wrote with Jamie Scott, Mike Needle and Daniel Bryer.

Tweeting about the song this afternoon, he wrote: "Been workin in the studio, wanted to share this song I just wrote with u guys. thank you for always being there."
