Niall Horan's first solo single has reached No.1 on the UK trending chart.

The singer unleashed his debut effort 'This Town' on Thursday (September 29).

On the main midweek singles chart update released on Monday (October 3), the tune jumped 95 places No.5.

This has made the single reach No.1 on the trending chart, which ranks week-on-week growth.

Horan has signed a deal with Capitol and Universal instead of working with Simon Cowell's Syco/Sony.

He is the second person from the original One Direction five to release solo music following Zayn Malik, with Liam Payne on the cusp of unveiling material too.
