One Direction belatedly thank Capital FM for BRIT Award

One Direction have belatedly thanked Capital FM for the BRIT Award they picked up last night.

The boyband’s chart-topper, ‘What Makes You Beautiful,’ was voted Best British Single by Capital FM listeners, but on accepting the award, Harry Styles mistakenly thanked rival station Radio 1 instead.

But after earlier reports that the group were to be dropped from the Capital playlist and a planned appearance at the station, their PR firm issued a statement on Twitter apologising for the gaffe:

"One Direction forgot to thank the Capital Radio listeners last night when picking up their Brit Award for 'Best British Single.'"

"This was an oversight as the boys were caught up in the excitement of winning.

"The band would like take this opportunity to thank Capital Radio and all their listeners for their support and for voting for them."

The 2010 X-Factor finalists, currently making waves in the USA with their winning track, announced a new UK and Ireland arena tour this morning.
