One Direction wow Michelle Obama at Kids Choice Awards

One Direction may now be able to count the likes of Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez as fans after the US stars were seen dancing along to their performance at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards last night.

The X-Factor boyband, who yesterday appeared in a new promo for the channel’s hit show, iCarly, drew piercing screams from the crowd as their arrival on stage was announced, before they emerged from their outlines to sing hit single, ‘What Makes You Beautiful.’

The First Lady was then seen clapping along to the song, while Swift and Gomez mouthed the words whilst excitedly dancing amongst the young audience.

When asked about their potential new Presidential fan, Liam rated her 11 out of 10 before adding: "She’s a very classy woman, very elegant," although Harry claimed to have ‘too much respect for Barack’ to comment on her appearance.

Elsewhere, Kelly Osbourne revealed her pride at the band’s US success, gushing: “They are so amazing and they are so lovely and it makes me so happy – it’s like the Brits taking over I love it,” whilst Australian singer Cody Simpson admitted he has no problem with the extra competition, saying: “I don’t feel threatened by them. I think there is a place for all of us."
