One Direction interrupt busy schedule to visit cancer-stricken fan

One Direction interrupted their busy schedule this week to make a special visit to a cancer-stricken schoolgirl fan.

All five members of the X-Factor boyband turned out to surprise brave eight-year-old Niamh Power, who is battling a brain tumour, at a London hotel room after a family friend arranged a meet-and-greet through the band’s management and the Rays of Sunshine charity.

The Rotherham youngster was then treated to lunch and a sightseeing trip in a limo, as well as a kiss on the cheek from Harry, something which mum Marie told the Daily Star that she will never forget: “She says she’s never going to wash that cheek again.

“Niamh’s smile was big enough to fill the room. Everyone in the band spent time talking to her. And the photo Niall put on Twitter has now gone round the world.”

Niamh’s grandad also told the Rotherham Advertiser just how much of a positive effect the meeting with the 'One Thing' stars has had: “Meeting the band was a really big boost to her. She’s quite ill at the moment and experiences like this make a huge difference.”
