One Direction have arrived in the USA ahead of their stateside headlining tour, which kicks off tonight (May 22) in Connecticut.

The lads will perform later this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT and are excited to start their run of live dates in the country.

Niall Horan tweeted: "you ready for the shpw tonight..jut had breakfast with the lads..now chillin for a bit.. first headline american tour ..cant wait.. #1DinCT."

The heartthrobs will continue their U.S. tour with concerts in Virginia, New York, New Jersey, California and Arizona.

Horan also took to Twitter in the early hours of this morning to tell his fans that the group arrived safely in America and they have already started rehearsing for the shows:

"Just did a rehearsal for the 1st show tomorrow! Our first headline tour in the US cannot believe this, so excited."
