One Direction's Zayn Malik was spotted showing off some brand new ink over the weekend and it looks like his latest body art addition represents his musical journey.

The sexy 'One Thing' singer had a life-sized design of a traditional stage microphone tattooed onto his forearm on Saturday (June 16) with the cable part wrapping around his wrist.

Malik is no stranger to body modification as he already has several other smaller designs on his body, including his grandfather's name in Arabic etched onto his chest, and band mate Harry Styles also had some Temper Trap lyrics ("won't stop 'till we surrender...") added to a pre-existing tattoo of a star on his arm.

The rest of One Direction were seen at a concert in Los Angeles later that Saturday and mocked him on stage by lining their own working microphones up with their forearms to replicate his new body art (pictured above left).

The lads are currently on their headlining tour of the USA and member Niall Horan took to social networking site Twitter earlier today (June 18) to let his fans know that they are still having the time of their lives:

"Thank you soo much for the gig tonight! U guys were sooooo loud in there,all your banners were amazing too, thanks again."

"Next stop dallas ,texas! its gona be crazy down there...remember #bring1Dtodallas coz i do! haha ...gona be super hot aswell.. u ready?"
